Unexplained Phenomena: Why Not Every Story Needs an Answer

Some stories end without an explanation, and we leave them that way. The reason is simple: an invented answer would turn a story into something it is not.

What "unexplained" means here

It means we have not found an explanation, or that none was ever established. It does not mean that no explanation exists, and it does not mean the cause was supernatural. We try not to say more than we know, in either direction.

What we do not do

We do not invent an explanation just to close a story out. We also do not present an open question as proof of something extraordinary. A personal account stays labeled as unverified, and fiction says that it is fiction.
